About Us

Creating a Lifetime of Sisterhood

Queens in Pearls, Inc. began as a girls mentoring group at Graham Middle School in February 2018. Excitement from the participants, parents, and community members sparked interest in people from other schools wanting to be apart of this new program. Since 2018, Queens in Pearls, Inc. has transformed to a non-profit serving Alamance and Guilford county middle and high school girls. With a focus on minority and diverse participants we are no longer just a school club. We are creating a lifetime of sisterhood through mentorship, community outreach, and personalized education support.

A letter to Queens in Pearls

A Letter to Queens in Pearls

Hello, my name is Kamri. I am writing this letter about how Queens In Pearls has helped me & inspired me to be the young lady I am today. I am currently a Junior at Graham High School. I started the program as a young girl, when I first joined Queens In Pearls I was in the 5th grade at North Graham Elementary, with the guidance of Ms. Angie Solomon, who saw my potential, asked my mom to let me join the program. I was afraid because I was the youngest one at the time, but Ms. Solomon continued to influence me to become a Queen. We had our ups & downs but we always saw a way through. Queens In Pearls taught me how to be a young lady, respecting myself & others. The program prepared me for the real world, financial responsibilities and the importance of getting an education to become successful. And how to accept criticism, bullying, and still remaining positive through it all. No matter what problems the program faced, Ms. Solomon and her village have always made it happen!  With the support, guidance and self worth lessons, I became the Queen that I am today! One of my favorite moments that I experienced with Queens In Pearls was when we had Summer Camp. During summer camp we would have fun! We would take trips to the pool, & then to wrap up the week we would do Saturday Academy, this event was always a success! Before Queens In Pearls, I had faced lots of bullying, & even in the program, but I didn’t know how to handle it. With having low self-esteem I had to adjust my crown & wear it with a smile.

To sum up my statements, I would recommend Queens In Pearls to any young girl who has doubts about herself. Remember that you are somebody even when you feel that you are not or worth less! You are the best advocate for yourself! Self love is the best love!

Queen, Kamri
